What is jock itch?

Jock itch is a contagious infection called tinea cruris caused by various types of fungus like those that cause athlete's foot. It infects the surrounding areas of the groin and inner thigh.

What are the symptoms of jock itch?

Jock itch can present as any one or combination of the following symptoms:

• - Itching
• - Burning
• - Scaling
• - Chafing
• - Discomfort
• - Flat red rash on inner thigh
• - See what the rash looks like

How did I get jock itch?

• - Since the infection is highly contagious, one can contract jock itch via contact with an area infected with athlete's foot or ringworm
• - The groin provides a warm, dark, and humid environment, which encourages fungus growth
• - Excessive perspiration can encourage fungus growth
